LINCOLNSHIRE
FREEMASONS SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR LOCAL, NON-MASONIC CHARITIES
BY DONATING SOME £60,000 AGAIN THIS YEAR.
Lincolnshire Masonic Lodges continued once again this
year to nominate and receive assistance for local non-Masonic
charities from the New Provincial Benevolent Fund. At
the recent meeting of the Provincial Charity Committee
the Provincial Grand Treasurer, W.Bro. Ian Pounder, announced
that almost £60,000 would again go to fund local
non-Masonic charities.
By utilising the New Provincial Benevolent Fund, Lodges
can direct their own internal fundraising towards the
2014 Festival in aid of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls
& Boys while still helping at local level. It also
means that the level of assistance to local charities
can be higher than the Lodge might otherwise generate.
This makes for a win/win situation for charities while
helping Lodges meet their Festival target - a situation
highly recommended and advocated by the Provincial Grand
Master, Rt.W.Bro. Graham Ives.
Despite the commitment to raise in excess of £1.5M
for the 2014 Festival, the Masonic Province of Lincolnshire
decided that it would set aside this level of monies on
an annual basis to help non-Masonic charities in the Province.
