This degree, or rite, is also known by its title in the
eighteenth century, being:
THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED RITE
FOR ENGLAND AND WALES AND ITS DISTRICTS AND CHAPTERS OVERSEAS.
It is practised in Rose Croix Chapters and candidates
must have been Master Masons for at least a year.
The ceremony is consistent with the Christian faith,
and in its teaching it expresses the figurative passing
of man through the darkest vale, accompanied and sustained
by the theological virtues.

In a subsequent degree of some seniority, the candidate's
attention is particularly drawn to a philosophical interpretation
of the Masonic system.
In Lincolnshire there are thirteen Rose Croix Chapters
based on Lincoln , Grantham, Grimsby (2), Skegness, Scunthorpe,
Spalding, Cleethorpes, Long Sutton, Sleaford, Boston,
Louth, and Gainsborough.
